The Secession Act of 2007
An act concerning secession from the Empire of the Alexandrians

BE IT ENACTED by the Emperor's most Excellent Imperial Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Members of Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


Article I.
Only those subdivisions of Alexandria that were once Sovereign Nations and were annexed into this Empire by means of a Treaty containing provisions for secession are able to secede lawfully from this Empire of the Alexandrians. All others secessions from this Empire shall be unlawful, null and void.

Article II.
No territory belonging to this Empire may ever be given up. The foregoing provision shall not apply to the returning of those lands that were leased by this Empire from another Nation or to lands that were temporarily placed in the care of Alexandria.

Article III.
Territory held by this Empire of the Alexandrians may not be traded or exchanged by the Emperor without the consent of the Imperial Parliament.

Article IV.
Anyone who intends, attempts, conspires or makes preparations to detach a part of the Empire of the Alexandrians by violent or other unlawful means or with foreign assistance shall be guilty of a High Crime and shall be liable on conviction thereof to suffer revocation of his or her Alexandrian Citizenship, the revocation of all Titles and Honours and permanent expulsion from this Empire of the Alexandrians.

Article V.
Anyone who intends, attempts, conspires or makes preparations to bring the Empire of the Alexandrians or any part thereof under the subjection of a foreign power by violent or other unlawful means or with foreign assistance shall be guilty of a High Crime and shall be liable on conviction thereof to suffer revocation of his or her Alexandrian Citizenship, the revocation of all Titles and Honours and permanent expulsion from this Empire of the Alexandrians.

Article VI.
Anyone who intends, attempts, conspires or makes preparations to render the Empire of the Alexandrians dependent on a foreign power by violent or other unlawful means or with foreign assistance shall be guilty of a High Crime and shall be liable on conviction thereof to sufferrevocation of his or her Alexandrian Citizenship, the revocation of all Titles and Honours and permanent expulsion from this Empire of the Alexandrians.

Article VII.
Unless renewed by the Imperial Parliament or granted an extension by His Imperial Majesty this Act shall cease to operate ten years after it has received the Imperial Assent.

Article VIII.
This Act may be cited as the Secession Act of 2007.

Article IX.
This Act shall not have force of law until it has received the Imperial Assent.

Mssr Speaker,

The principle of this bill is sound and I have no problem with it, bar the fact that it does specify a name for the "high crime" in the case of Articles IV, V and VI. I would say that the High Crime be named Insurrection against the Nation or something similiar. In addition, the revocation of citizenship will clash with the current Immigration bill going through Parliament.

upon further research done by his imperial majesty the bill conflicts with a decree he has passed therefore the bill along with the forum policies act should be dismissed.

do i hear any motions to dismiss?
