| The Future of Energy Act 2007 Part ONE - Introduction Art 1. This act my be cited as "The Future of Energy Act 2007" Art 2. This act overrules any prior articles or acts with which it contradicts. Art 3. Any article of this act which contradicts the constitution shall be discarded. Part TWO - Powerstations Art 4. The Department of Energy is hereby created within the Ministry of the Interior. This is a simulated Department. Art 5. The Department of Energy shall be responsible for the building, and regulation of building, of power stations so secure Alexandria's energy needs Art 6. The Department of Energy may not commence the building or alow the building of any new powerstation which uses oil, coal, natural gas, any sub-products of the pre-mentioned, or any other form of fossil fuel as their energy source. Art 7. It shall be the target of the Department of Energy that 40% of all Alexandria's energy usage shall be of renewable sources by the end of 2010. Art 8. Powerstations generating energy from renewable sources may be privately owned by up to 75% of the total capital, with the remaining 25% being controlled by the Department of Energy. Art 9. The additional 60% of Alexandrias needs shall be met through Nuclear power derived from nuclear fusion. Art 10. Nuclear powerstarions may be privately owned by up to 40% of the total capital, with the remaining 60% being controlled by the Department of Energy. Art 11. All powerstations which use oil, coal, natural gas, any sub-products of the pre-mentioned, or any other form of fossil fuel as their energy source, shall have to cease all operations as of January the FIRST (1st) 2011. Part THREE - Transport Art 12. All form of automobile must meet Department of Energy "Energy Efficiency Levels". There shall be multiple classes of Energy Efficiency Level and vehicles shall be taxed accordingly. Art 13. All Locomotives must be powered by electricity from the national grid, with the exception of those granted "Steam Locomotive Permits" by the Department of Energy. Art 14. All fixed wing aircraft shall have to meet Department of Energy efficiency targets or will be liable to pay a surcharge set by the Department. Art 15. All rotercraft shall have to meet Department of Energy efficiency targets or will be liable to pay a surcharge set by the Department. Part FOUR - Assent Art 16. This act shall become law upon receiving Imperial Assent. |
