Title: Movement for Alexandria
Nicholas Bertrand - March 27, 2008 11:53 PM (GMT)
My fellow Alexandrians and dear citizens of Baudrix,
Our nation seems to be at a turning point. Our future really does depend on the results of the upcoming election. Like many of you, I have watched the proceedings in Parliament of late very closely and I cannot help but worry.
The key principle and the backbone of my beliefs in government is that a government must always do what is best for it's people. Regardless of partisan loyalties and regardless of personal morals, when you are elected to that chamber you must do what is in the best interests of your electors and the nation.
We have seen the so called "New Majority" disregard this nation's progression and safety in what appears to be some sort of pathetic battle against the ACP. They mindlessly oppose bills that would make this nation more secure at a time when we are not short of enemies abroad and they abuse the power that we, the people, have entrusted them with.
I could not sit idly by and watch our nation plunge into the abyss.
In response to this Chaotic Coalition in Parliament, I am very happy to announce the formation of the Movement for Alexandria. In the next Parliament there will be an alliance between the Liberal Alternative and the Alexandrian Conservative Party because we believe it is time to put a stop to the outrageous and dangerous behaviour of the New Majority.
It is a time for stability and common sense in Government. It is time for Government that actually cares about it's people.
And if you still believe that you can trust this AAP-led band of Traitors, Fascists and Far-Left Loonies then I have some very important information for you.
Today I received a message from Franco Torres, a fascist member of the New Majority and a Traitor to our nation, which stated the following:
| QUOTE |
A friend of mine has given me the opportunity to found a Republic in Alexandria. Your past posts show me that you are a man who would favour this and may be willing to help me, so I am going out on a limb and asking you.
My friend will on the 13th of April take control of the Admin account and will then use the account of the emperor to devolve the Monarchy and appoint a President. I feel that with you're history in Alexandria you are ideally positioned to be the President of the future republic. I await you're response, Mr President

The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back is it not?
At the next elections if you really value this nation and it's future then vote for the Movement for Alexandria. Together we can restore Alexandria's greatness and ensure it's ongoing stability and safety.
Thank you

I laugh at the ACP's new lapdog calling me a fascist, he blatently hasn't looked and the bills proposed this term. As for his slander, that will be taken to the courts where it belongs.

To respond to your speech, Nicholas, I have the following things to say.
Firstly, what is best for the people is not to remove a person's right to trial over any charge. What is best for the people is to have proper proceedings in place for a fair trial before the High Court in which they at least have the chance to account for their actions, regardless of how severe or how silly they were. Secondly, what is best for the people is not to have the threat of exile hang over their head if they are the slightest bit rude to someone. Preach all you like, Nicholas, about the rights and responsibilities of being an MP but you have not served there and you are not qualified to speak of what it is like to work in the Chamber.
There is no pathetic battle with the Conservatives. On a number of issues, the New Majority and the Conservatives have been in agreement. I think you'll find in the Parliamentary Debates that we are very much in agreement on a number of principles. The spats we've had with the Conservatives are over citizen's rights. On electoral reform, we are in agreement. On political parties, we have compromised. On the new Government, we are in agreement. Do not lecture me, my party or this coaltion on how to vote.
Also, use your own phrases and don't lift them from my speeches. I mentioned the abyss phrase in my speech recently. Be original please.
By allying with the Conservatives, you are betraying your liberal credentials. It should be made known to the public that the AAP has more than once sought to include the Liberal Alternative in coalition and even in a merger. Every time, the Liberal Alternative has turned us down due to what I believe is Nicholas not being able to stomach that he will not be absolute leader in his party and would have to share power with leading figures as is done in the AAP where the power is shared among all of us.
Observers may notice this is a very bad tempered reply. It is because I take allegations of treason and treachery very seriously and I do not in any way like to be accused of it. I am very much annoyed with Torres over this and have expelled him from the party and I am very much annoyed that Nicholas Bertrand, while talking of his belief in protecting the public, has decided to grand stand on this and not follow the law and hand over the information to the Law Courts. He has placed the jeopardy the safety of this nation by not giving the information to the courts. Furthermore, I am intrigued very much by the remarks of the Speaker of the House in recent weeks. Repeatedly, he has talked of Imperial Democracy, of how Alexandria is not a Republic and how the Emperor is important. He has done so in reply to statements which mention neither republicanism or the importance of the Emperor. I find this strange to be perfectly frank and I do not believe in coincedences. How much does the Speaker know of these letters that were sent out by a disaffected former Conservative?
The next time I see you Nicholas will be in court answering a charge of treason and defending yourself in a civil suit of defamation. I will not engage with you in debate in Parliamentary Election Debates regardless of you call upon me to answer any question.

Mssr Carmichael,
Firstly, I did not copy your speech. Everything I have said came from the heart at the moment I said it. If I had known you had used similar language believe me I would have avoided it like the plague.
Secondly, let's set a few things straight.
1)
| QUOTE |

I have served in Parliament before, as MP for Baudrix.

The bill of which you speak would have given the elected Parliament and the High Court the power to overthrow any bans. I don't think you could have a greater system of checks and balances.
3)

Are you saying that if any liberal wants to be considered REAL or LEGITIMATE then he/she must be involved with your party?
The reason I have avoided coalition with your party is nothing to do with megalomania or lust for power on my part, it is because the AAP is quite willing to accept people with any political views including Fascists and Socialists, and you accuse ME of betraying my liberal credentials!
More importantly, I have never claimed to be a Liberal. I am a Libertarian.
The name of the Liberal Alternative refers to freedom rather than Liberal ideology. Regardless of this fact, even if I was a liberal it does not mean that I cannot form an alliance with the Conservatives. Just because we have differing views on a few issues does not mean I should treat them as the anti-Christ. I personally believe that an ACP led Parliament is what Alexandria needs if it is to continue.

Also, Mr Torres I would be more worried about your punishment for the planned coup against His Imperial Majesty.
