Title: Trade Deputation
Description: From Gralus

Dearest Alexandrians
I know that we have yet to finish our treaty negotations regarding the old Passian land, but I thought you may be interested in this - the possibility of trade. Through much planning and arguing, and with the assistance of some Shirithians and Ocians, I have come up with a trading program which I hope will suit virtually every micronation interested in trade.
http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=drwj4wm_7fbtf85cc That is both the style of Trade Agreement I hope will become standard across the micronational world, as well as the explanation of some of its points. If you have questions, feel free to ask ... I'm used to explaining this by now. The easiest use of trading is clearly with the defined MCS Resources, but because of the interest expressed in this by Ocia with their Giessan holdings, it's opened up so that nations can do it on both maps. If Alexandria decides to use resources from Giess, they're more than welcome to. You can also decide whether you trade for your SARs - I know Gralus is trading as a whole, but it's up to you.
Since databases have let me down (ie no one's designed one with all the functionality I need) I've turned to Excel to do it. The advantage of this is each nation can manage their own trade in their own way (which removes the need for a supranational organisation to do it all). Excel, I trust, is easy for most people to access, change and re-upload, compared to my previous 5 mb database ...
http://www.novatainia.org/user_files/andre...20Workbook.xlsx is an Excel 2007 version, if any of you have that (it niftily changes the colours of cells if you've done something wrong :) )
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=paA...2Bbyiqb-G89WvUA is a Google-docs version with the same data, just not the changing colour bit. I trust between the two you can find one that suits you.
I'm most interested in the resource trading, though the agreement allows for exchanges of goods and services between our nations also. If that last bit doesn't suit your economy, I'm more than happy to drop it.
Hoping you'll be happy to trade,
Andreas the Wise

Your Excellency,
This all sounds excellent. I am happy to see that there is an actual system of trading resources in Micras as i've never come across one before.
The only problem that i find myself in front of is how will this go through in currency exchange. Alexandria has an inactive economy which will hopefully be revived during the tenure of the incumbent Prime Minister who has just won another term. Alexandria does everything in "Ecus", our currency. How will this play out for us?
respectfully,
Andreas the Wise - March 16, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Your excellency,
That is no matter. When I originally made a similiar trade proposal earlier, I envisaged each nation getting, on joining, 100 000 'Trade Credits' with which they could trade, to avoid currency exchange. It just got added in because Ocia wanted it ...
My best suggestion would be that our agreement, at this stage, only includes resource trading. You create a 'Trade Account' of ecus (is that by any chance earnable consumable units? If so, Toketi had the same name for their currency up until a few days agao :D ). You can decide how much you want to make it, but if you make it 100 000 then that's the same amount as Gralus is allocating to trading (we're doing 100 000 NCU) and so we could set our exchange rate as 1 for 1. However, in practicality we wouldn't need to exchange very often, and could just record the payment of the difference of our trade from one to the other.
Glad you're interested,

Well, you'll have to come over for a state-visit and meet with the incoming Minister of Finance and Economics here :P . As you can see when it comes to Economics i might be the one to ask for the " Economics for Dummies book" lol.
Excellency,
We'd love to have you visit Alexandria formally in a state-visit and hopefully meet with our economic experts. Would this be suitable for yourself?
respectfully,

Your Excellency,
I would be delighted to. How about I allow you to celebrate Easter in peace and then return from the Monday 24th to the Friday 28th? Hopefully in that time I can discuss economics to the Minister's heart's content.
In the meantime, I gather your Prime Minister has just been re-elected? Congratulations. I take it the Parliament will soon be legislating again and I can hear word on both our treaty, and the land deal, so that word may be posted to the MCS about it?
Respectfully,
HIH Prince Enrique Portela - March 20, 2008 12:45 PM (GMT)
I sincerely apologize for the treaty not being able to be on parliament floor. Its treated as a bill and therefore has to be placed in the hopper.
Juan Ciervo has been re-elected to his third term. The results can be viewed
here. We do look forward to your visit, however. We'll be waiting!
respectfully,

I thought it was the case that treaties went straight to the floor? If not, I think it would be best for an amendment to be made to the Parliamentary Procedures. Do you agree, Your Imperial Highness?
HIH Prince Enrique Portela - March 20, 2008 04:02 PM (GMT)
I thought so as well. (It was like that in the past, so im not sure) Emergency resolutions werent even taken by Parliament floor right away.
I would indeed be in favor of an amendment.
Andreas the Wise - March 20, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
I shall await both the passing of the treaties and my state visit eagerly, then. God Bless you on Good Friday and over this Easter period.
HIH Prince Enrique Portela - March 21, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
Excellent, good friend. We shall await then. Please convey my regards to the officials in Gralus and my blessings especially on good friday and easter sunday.
respectfully,

I have passed them on, and a joyous and blessed Easter to Alexandria too. :D
