Title: Speaker
Jean Michel Leclerc - February 29, 2008 09:43 AM (GMT)
Mr Speaker,
Can we pick up the pace with moving bills out of the hopper. We have, in effect, only got one active legislative debate going at the moment, considering the electoral reform amendment has been merged into the other bill.
We cannot allow this house to stand idle.
Many thanks,
Jean Michel Leclerc - March 19, 2008 07:29 AM (GMT)
Okay, so we now have two bills motioned for a vote, and one defeated. Can you please do the necessary?

Lest a new organizing resolution is introduced. Which I'm seriously considering putting forward if the Speaker can no longer retain the confidence of this house.

I think a little decorum is required Mssr. Poitiers. I don't think the Rt. Hon. Gent meant any offence. He was just raising a point that if you're unable to do your job at the moment, then a replacement must be sought. For the sake of the house.

This was not a threat but a warning, Mssr Speaker, and I have not threatened you or warned you before, sir. You have my sincerest condolences (and I do mean that) over the death of your Grandfather and the grief its causing your grandmother. I hope and pray that her grief is assuaged. At this time, I see no overt reason for your replacement as Speaker and I am willing to see you remain in this office until the end of the Parliamentary term. I also further ask that you fast track a bill I will be placing in the Hopper which will amend the PPRA so as to allow Treaties to be brought to the floor immediately, amongst other things.
Again, you have my sincerest condolences and I hope for your support,
Jean Carmichael.

[@Lrd Leclerc]honorable mp-
this is not parliament floor and from the looks of it there has not been any decorum from the part of the MP's threatning in my office at all. i am going to defend myself in here if i have to. i take offense to people that threaten me in my office.

[@ charmichael]fellow MP -
i apologized if i perseaived your 'warning' as a threat because it did sound like one to me and like i've mentioned before i will ignore your threats [if made] on parliament floor but in my office you will find a response to them as soon as they are made. i'm the speaker of parliament and whether or not i do a bad job or a good job that is for your coalition to interpret but respect is something i will have to request for. i've never been a man to threaten anyone whilst maintaining a majority and there are tons of parliament files to go throguh u may look at all of them and you will see that i tell no lie.
respect must be given in order to earn it, take that as my own warning to you good sir. and with this i hope we can go back to work in parliament.

You don't have to be in parliament to show decorum.
