Title: Motion to remove the Speaker from his Duties
Description: And from parliament

francotorres - February 19, 2008 06:08 PM (GMT)
QUOTE
5. Any unannounced absence of more than ten (10) consecutive days by the Speaker shall be considered a resignation on the part of the Speaker.

I motion to remover the Speaker from his post and his position as a member of Parliament.

freddyfrancois - February 19, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
While I believe that something should be done to do something about the lack of activity in parliament, I no longer second the motion as announced earlier.

I agree with Monseigneur Portela that the absence was not unannounced. The invoked provision of the rules of procedure therefore does not apply in my humble opinion.

I also bring this before the house:

QUOTE
(3) Ministers sitting in the Imperial Parliament have the duty to propose, debate, and vote on bills brought before them. A Minister who has not voted on any question within 15 days is deemed to have forfeited his seat.

There is no provision for LOA's in this.

Therefore he has forfeited his seat.

I have nothing against you personally however the constitution states you have resigned.

I suggest you seek re-election. If however you refuse to accept that you are no longer a member of parliament I shall take the case to the High Court. Nothing infuriates me more than politicians who disregard the law.

Jean Michel Leclerc - February 20, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
Could we contact the Minister of Justice, Mssr. Maynard d'Aire about this?

francotorres - February 20, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
I dont see what purpose that would serve.

Matthieu Poiters - February 21, 2008 12:39 AM (GMT)
citoyen Maynard is the Minister of jutice? has he been confircmed? if not lets confirm him as soon as possible. petition the courts if you want -- i am willing to fight this head on.

Poiters. MP for SM.

Jean Michel Leclerc - February 21, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
I'm not saying I think there should be a fight, but I'm thinking just to clarify the matter. Mssr. D'Aire hasn't been confirmed yet, but there is some talk about appointing him.

francotorres - February 21, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
The Minister of Justice doesn't have the powers to do so I believe the only one who can is the Chief Justice.

John_Carmichael - February 21, 2008 04:36 PM (GMT)
Mssr. Speaker,

The Ministry of Justice is not used for interpretation or clarification. That is the job of the High Court and the Lord Chief Justice. The Ministry of Justice itself is a failure anyhow.

I yield the floor,

Jean Michel Leclerc - February 21, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
As with many things in the nation at the moment!

Matthieu Poiters - February 27, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)

i am aware of the ministry being vacant. i think that if we can get al; the ministers confirmed to every ministry then maybe we can get each ministry active. the ministers should provide ideas as to how to improve the ministry. [my ideas anyways but we should stay positive]

Poiters. MP for SM.

Jean Michel Leclerc - February 29, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
Well the Interior Ministry is fine!
