Title: Discussion of bills

freddyfrancois - January 30, 2008 09:54 AM (GMT)
Fellow colleagues,

I am ofcourse new to this parliament and might - as of yet - not fully grasp all procedural details and house rules.

Still, I would like to raise the following issue:

On 26 january I submitted a bill to "The Hopper", the pace where bills belong to be submitted to the Speaker.

I am aware that the Speaker is currently absent and I applaud mr. Frias actions to let this parliament move forward in the absence.

I have noticed that, with approval of mr. Frias, on 29 january 3 bills were suddenly tabled for debate, without ever being submitted to "The Hopper".

I am somehwat puzzled as to why my bill which clearly predates all other initiatives and, as far as I know, was also submitted according to the correct procedures, is being sidetracked.

I therefore would appreciate some clarification with regards to the administration of bills and the order in which they are to be debated in parliament.

Fellow Members of Parliament,

I would like to address the question from the previous speaker. Bills are brought from the Hopper in the order they are submitted. There are other bills that wre submitted before yours, so they will be brought to the floor before the bill you submitted.

I hope this clarifies any misunderstandings and that my colleagues will be able to help with anything I may have missed or any other clarifications that the new member may need.

I yield.
