Grand Duke Regency Act 2008

Section 1 - Appointment of a Regent
a ) Upon the incapacitation of the Grand Duke of Ibelin, a Grand Duke Regent must be appointed to act as the head of the executive arm of the Grand Duchy.
b ) A Grand Duke Regent may be appointed by the Grand Duke of Ibelin before he is incapacitated.
c ) If Section 1b is unable to be fulfilled, the Ibelin Provincial Parliament may appoint a Grand Duke Regent from the Imperial Royal Family of Alexandria.

Section 2 - Powers of the Regent
a ) The Grand Duke Regent shall be required to fufil the functions of the head of the executive arm of the Grand Duchy.
b ) Specifically, the Grand Duke Regent must carry out the following tasks:
i) Grant Duchial Assent to the Acts of the Provincial Parliament.
ii) Implement the laws, whether they be Resolutions or Acts of the Provincial Parliament, created by the Provincial Parliament.
iii) To co-ordinate the executive of the Grand Duchy of Ibelin in implementing policy and maintaining the public services and economy.
iv) Appoint officials within the Grand Duchy's Executive.
c ) The Grand Duke Regent is prohibited from issuing Grand Duchy Decrees, which remain the prerogative of The Grand Duke.

Section 3 - Titles
a ) The Grand Duke Regent shall not assume the title of Grand Duke after any amount of time.
b ) The Grand Duke, Provincial Parliament and the Emperor of the Alexandrians shall, if they deem it prudent, award a title to the person appointed as Grand Duke Regent.

Section 4 - Implications for the Sucession of the Title
a ) The Grand Duke Regent Act shall not come to bear any weight in the appointment of a permanent successor to the title of Grand Duke of Ibelin.
