A Fellow Stormarker! Merry Christmas. May I ask who you are in Stormark? I'm the Duke of Rangarvalla, Gudhsten Patreksson. It is good to see new faces around our lands! Feel free to look around while the Minister makes his way over to his office and approves your citizenship! :)

Merry Christmas! and a Happy New Year! :christmas:

freddyfrancois - December 30, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
Also my best wishes, monseigneur.

About Stormark, let's just say I have a high ranking, yet low profile job over there.

Is there any procedure for granting citizenship? Should I just wait or do I have to do something?

HIH Prince Enrique Portela - December 30, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
The Minister of the Interior is the one that takes care of citizenship applications. He'll be around shortly, and if he is not able to His Imperial Majesty himself will accept your citizenship application.

I'd like to apologize, but its the holidays everyone is spending time with their families. Again, my sincere apologies.

respectfully,

Liam Sinclair - December 30, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
Mssr. Nevens, welcome to Alexandria.

Be wary of a few of the political hardliners around here who still hold Anthelians in poor esteem; they may not take your not being forth-right with your identity as innocently as most Alexandrians. Some still weren't over the Alexandria-Anthelia poor relations even when it was long gone (when Darcy created the Kingdom of Novasolum, certain Alexandrians looked at it as being just as "evil" as Anthelia  ).

freddyfrancois - December 30, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
Mr. Sinclair,

I am who I am and do not see what actions of mine could at this point already be seen as being "not forth-right"

In concordance with the instructions in this thread, I have adopted a french name.

As for the role I play or have played in Stormark or any other micronation, I intend to keep that outside Alexandria and within the realm of my private life.

I would most kindly appreciate it if - in the future - you would adress me as mr. François or Freddy, depending on the circumstances.

Your cryptic "I'm a high-ranking Stormarkian with a low profile job" comment is being not forth-right as to your identity. It sends the wrong first impression to Alexandria, considering that you were once considered (and may still be by some) an enemy of this micronation.

You can say you want to keep your actions as a member of the Anthelian government outside of Alexandria all you want, but your decisions as a member of Anthelia's government greatly offended Alexandria on more than one occasion (the occasion most are truly bitter over is Anthelia as an ally failing to aid them in that spat with Lovely ... a decision you played no small part in).

It is a matter of historical fact that you have a poor history with Alexandria. I'm not out to punish you for it as I never quite cared for the Alexandria vs. Anthelia circle of hatred beyond how it affected the Kingdom of Gotzborg and the Kingdom of Novasolum. However, common courtesy dictates that, at the very least, you be willing to trust Alexandrians enough to reveal your true name here, even if you are one of the worst political enemies in recent Alexandrian history. Even if you have to adopt a French name, doesn't mean you can't just state that "I'm xxx."

The best way to resolve your poor history with Alexandria is having enough courage to admit that it's actually Koen Nevens behind the mask of Freddy Francois, instead of posting cryptic messages regarding your identity.

Liam, we already knew that Monsieur Francois was Koen Nevens. We always do IP checks on all the IP addresses of all applicants (standard policy) and discovered that the IP emanated from Belgium. Gus indicated to me that he thought it was Mr. Nevens. Plus, "freddyfrancois" is pretty close to Freddy J. Warren. We can put two and two together, Mssr. Sinclair, as opposed to what you might think. ;)

Welcome to Alexandria, Mssr. Nevens/Francois.

Your cryptic "I'm a high-ranking Stormarkian with a low profile job" comment

I have always been cryptic about my involvement in Stormark, today and in the past. My role in Stormark concerns no one other than the Emperor of Stormark and the citizens of Stormark who know me by my name over there. There is no need for spill-over.

I will no longer comment on Anthelia. Anthelia is dead. One thing maybe, the Alexandria-Lovely peace conference was an idea of John Darcy and he hosted and presided it on the anthelian forums. Yes, the Anthelian government supported it, but I was not involved as such in the peace conference. I'm not questioning John's actions, in fact, when I read Ben's last post ("evolve or die") about the lack of good understanding in micronational diplomacy, I must admit that the failed peace conference was one of the things which popped up in my mind.

Might it be that you are punishing me for something else, more personal, which happened in Gotzborg? ;-)

Has it occured to you that there might be other reasons why - as of now - I want to keep my true name unrevealed in micronationalism? As a hobby micronationalism is a pain: keeping it private to the outside world while everything happens online, is not an easy thing.

Now that it is of your chest, would you be so kind to edit your post and delete my real name, or at least my first or last name. Again, if you want the real reason (which has nothing to do with the past), just contact me through pm and I'll explain.

I would like to request his Majesty to do the same.

To both, thank you in advance.

Liam Sinclair - December 31, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
The post has been edited to remove your name, as requested. And no, I'm not out to punish you for anything; the Gotzborg incident was unfortunate and I didn't dwell on it any further after its 'resolution' at the time.

It was better for me to say these necessary things regarding your past actions involving Alexandria now during the immigration process than for someone, primarily outside the government (and thus unable to access IPs, etc.) with a vivid hate for Anthelia and Anthelians (which as I noted continues beyond the existence of the micronation), to randomly discover your former micronational name further down the road during the height of your Alexandrian participation.

As combative as the posts may seem, they're by no means personal; just a necessary step in the process considering your history with Alexandria.
