Title: The Districts
Description: Thus Far

Sebastien Alexandre - January 9, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
The Docks:
Widely considered to be the "ghettos of Venise" after dark, the Docks and their various warehouses and freight makes them the preferred destination of Venise's poor and destitute, and the sailors make the area a prime location for prostitution. It is considered most out of place for any woman of standing to be seen in the Docks, and any using the docks for public transportation are seen as in the lower class, for not being able to afford manors with their own sea access. However, despite it's absence from polite conversation, the Docks remains the most vital of Venise's trade districts, and accounts for much of the wealth of the city.

Merchant's District:
Located and engulfing the Docks is the Merchant's Districts, which, as the name suggests, lays claim to the hustle and bustle and haggling and buying that comes with any healthy market. Over shadowed by the Doge's Manor, crime is relatively low in the area, due mostly to the close proximity of the most powerful man in Venice, and his guards. The economic vitality of Venise relies on this district. The vast majority of Venise's citizens live here.

Doge's Manor:
Home to none other than the first Doge of Venise, Sebastien Alexandre, the Doge's manor is a towering bit of construction, more a citadel or a fortress than a manor. It's eight foot thick and ten feet high walls, dressed in whitewash, stand between the leader and the people, though the portcullis has never yet been closed. The east wing of the Manor has been deemed reserved for visiting nobility - Alexandrian or no, while the west wing is the Doge's private quarters, with the center serving as the offices and areas for other official matters of State.

Military Quarters:
The military quarters, commonly known as the Outskirts, lie on the outskirts of Venise, and approximately thirty miles from the center of the island from the east, the Quarters stands as the first and last defense of the city, and has yet to encounter a native resistance it could not repulse and quell the next week. Due to Venise's new establishment, the city does not reach further than the Quarters though expansion is being planned. On the outskirts of the Outskirts, a ten foot high wall stands between the natives and the people of Venise, with one gate from which to enter or exit - usually on military expedition or Catholic mission.
