| Executive Succession Amendment Act of 2006 Article 1 – Name. This bill will be officially cited as the “Executive Succession Amendment Act of 2006”. Article 2 – Constitutional amendment. 1. Section 26 of the Alexandrian Constitution of 2005 is hereby amended to say “In the event of the resignation, death, or permanent incapacitation of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister shall assume the role of Prime Minister until the next scheduled election. The new Prime Minister shall appoint a new Deputy Prime Minister once the person has take the oath of office.” Article 3 – Deputy Prime Minister. 1. The Deputy Prime Minister shall be appointed by the Prime Minister at the beginning of the term. 2. The Deputy Prime Minister shall have no formal portfolio, but he or she is allowed to hold more than one ministry at a time. 3. Should the Deputy Prime Minister ever become Prime Minister through Section 26, he shall have to resign any other Cabinet posts he may hold. Prime Ministers are hereby not allowed to hold other portfolios other than the Prime Ministry. Article 4 – Succession after the Deputy Prime Minister. 1. The following shall be the official succession after the Deputy Prime Minister: Speaker of the Imperial Parliament, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance and Economics, Minister of Foreign Affairs. 2. Should the Speaker of the Imperial Parliament succeed to the Prime Ministry, the Speaker will have to resign immediately and the Emperor will conduct a vote for a new Speaker. 3. Should new ministries and positions be created, the Imperial Parliament shall accommodate the new ministries and positions in the line of succession. Article 5 – Imperial Assent. This act shall not become law unless it has received Imperial Assent. |
