NPA Platform - February 2006-May 2006

Constitution

The Non-Partisans Association believes fully in the preservation of the traditions of the empire. Recognising that His Majesty is the supreme of the nation, we believe in the protection of his crown. Our priorities for constitutional therefore follow as:

1. Protection of the Constitutional Monarchy and Democracy of Alexandria

2. Constitutional Ammendment to enshrine the rights of Alexandrians in the constitution

3. The protection of the provinces, and recognition of each and everyone of them through a constitutional ammendment which will protect their indentities and rights as provinces while also clarifying the provincial powers they hold

Our constitutional platform is solid and gives hope to Alexandrians by protecting traditions, protecting rights, and protecting liberty.

Economy

The Non-Partisans Association is a firm believer that for too long the people of Alexandria have been the subjects of an unfair tax and spend system. Therefore we propose:

1. A complete overhaul of the economic ministry to create a more efficient and accountable body

2. The payment of a monthly dividend to each and every citizen. This dividend would come from the Bank of Alexandria and would be a tax rebate based on the national surplus distributed progressively based on need with the lowest income earners garnering the highest portion of the dividend and the highest income earners garnering the lowest portion

3. Creating a fair tax and spend policy to provide quality services without creating too much beaurocracy or over taxing Alexandrians

Social Issues

We believe in the protection of the rights of all Alexandrians and also their faith, therefore we propose:

1. Creation of Christianity as the official state religion

2. Creation of a Charter of Rights and Freedoms to be enshrined in the constitution

Defense

We believe in a strong defense platform and therefore we propose:

1. Providing a strong allocation of the budget towards defense and modernization of the armed forces

2. Research into new technologies for the military

Foreign Affairs and Trade

We believe in a fair and free open markets that promote strong trade values. Therefore are proposals are:

1. Creation of a multinational Free Trade Agreement

2. Strong relations with neighbors and allies, taking a stand to defend them when they are in need

3. Creating free trade between the provinces, and allowing for our provinces to have stronger voices over trade issues

Services

The NPA believes in strong services, while protecting the rights of Alexandrians to those services. We propose:

1. A tax credit for low income Alexandrians to pay for costly utilities

2. Expanding the road and bridge and rapid transit networks, and providing commuter tax credits to make those using public transfer have less of a burden of paying for it

3. Protecting education, and helping to pay for essential health services for lower and middle income citizens

Democratic Reform

The NPA believes strongly in more reforms, therefore we propose:

1. More referendums on important issues

2. Reforming the parliament and electoral system to be a more democratic body and institution which works directly with cabinet and the Prime Minister and Emporor

3. Creating an ethics comissioner to examine the way cabinet ministers, the Prime Minister, and Members of Parliament behave and act. It will be their duty to make sure ethical conduct is present, and also that accountability is there for all people. The ethics comissioner would report directly to parliament and the citizens

Constitution I have no changes to our current consitution that I would like to suggest.

Economy We need to grow into a full economy. We need to be competitive with our neighbours, especially those of the Novasolum. They have fully industrial nations that we should trade and profit with.

Social Issues I have no major social issues. Perhaps we should consider seeking a new official religion. Perhaps a micronation religion instead?

Defense We need to a large and powerful army and defense against larger predators. We should protect our friends and allies, never forgetting those who help us.

Foreign Affairs and Trade: We openly friendly to all nations, but wary those would would dare to consider harming us. We should trade many nations, profiting the Empire and the people.

Services We should offering roads and public utilities for the people, perhaps to help with the economy.

Democratic Reform We have freedoms and an a way to voice our opinions. We an Empire and we should stay that way.
