Today the Alexandrian Pride Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Baudrix, controversial political figure, Nicholas Bertrand held a press conference in Geneva after his announcement that he will be standing for Parliament in Baudrix.

Mr Bertrand met the crowds outside the town hall and spent hours speaking on a personal level to his hopeful constituents before entering the town hall to be grilled by journalists on his intentions and plans if he is elected as the second Alexandrian Pride Party MP.

Q: Mr Bertrand it has been said by many that you are simply a troublemaker who is merely trying to cause destability in the Empire, is this true?

Bertrand: I can assure you that I only have the best interests of this nation and it's people in mind and those who have consistently labelled me a troublemaker are merely afraid! They are afraid that I and my colleagues in the APP are going to bring a new era in Alexandrian politics, an era where there despotic grip on power will be destroyed and where the ordinary Alexandrians will take power in a truly democratic nation.

Q: Mr Bertrand the Emperor has given us an elected parliament and he has drastically reduced his powers through his own choice. How is this undemocratic?

Bertrand: That Parliament is nothing but a rubber stamp legislature which us full of puppets of the Emperor. The Alexandrian Conservative Party has made Alexandria into something similar to a single party state, it is supported and funded by the Imperial Family and the Heir Apparent is even the Chairman! Through the Conservative Party the Imperial Family and the Nobility have been able to infiltrate Parliament and pass whatever laws they wish. Another fact that contributes to their iron grip on power in this nation is that the Emperor can not only propose laws but he can also veto them. This ensures that nothing changes in Alexandria and the old guard can keep their hands on power. This has to change.

Q: Mr Bertrand the APP seems to be very Radical. What sort of legislation are you hoping to introduce if you are elected?

Bertrand: Well the first thing on the APP agenda is Democracy. We are going to push for democratic reforms which include getting the nobility and the monarchy out of Parliament and out of local Government. We also plan to ensure that religious figures are banned from Government to ensure a secular state. I know my colleagues and I have also discussed Same-sex marriage but we have yet to form any official policy on that issue.

Q: Mr Bertrand if a member of the APP, perhaps youself or Fabiola Douay, wins the position of Prime Minister, would we see the launch into a Republic?

Bertrand: Well I can assure you now that I will not be running for the position of Prime Minister but I give my full support to Fabiola Douay should she run for the position, which I certainly hope she does. If a APP Prime Minister took office we would see a move towards a constitutional monarchy where the Emperor would just be a figurehead and representative of the state and the nation's politics would be left up to the politicians. We are not a republican party in any way and we see the monarchy as an important aspect of Alexandrian culture and tradition.

Mr Bertrand then went on to visit local schools and factories to meet more of the "ordinary" people in the province. Now we must wait until the night of the elections to see whether Mr Bertrand and the APP claim victory.
