Title: Expulsion
Claude Peterson - December 19, 2005 08:57 PM (GMT)
Vote to expell Ms. Douay,
Ms. Douay does not hold a vote as this matter is about her, in the event of a tie I will cast the deciding vote as I usually do.
2/3 majority is needed.
Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
Mr Speaker,
As the Emperor will confirm - I am Member of Parliament until the next by-election. Hold as many votes, make as many claims of treason as you like. I am here to stay. Get used to it.
Emperor Edgard II - December 19, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
Members of Parliament -
As the Emperor of the Empire of the Alexandrians, I have to come down here and put a stop to all this bickering.
Ladies and gentlemen, I call upon each and everyone of you to please behave in a polite fashion. Each one of you are Alexandrian - all of you are brothers and sisters of the same nation, of the same creed.
The Constitution sets no rules at all on how to remove the Speaker nor how to remove MP's from Parliament. All we have to rely on is tradition - members of Parliament have been removed in the past by a 2/3's vote of the Chamber.
The Speaker has been removed in the past by the same way that MPs may be removed. The Speaker votes only to break ties - that is also another tradition.
Now, I urge the Parliament to revivie the Standing Orders Act proposed earlier by Madame Douay and pass it. This chaos in Parliament is spreading across the nation and it's all because you have not decided on rules.
Rules, ladies and gentlemen, are needed.
Either you do it by your own, or I, or the courts, will have to step in and settle things.
Thank you.
Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
We need some standing orders but I'm not sure if we should go with the Standing Orders Act I introduced before. It's obvious we need to plan everything publicly here. Debating each section - but then again, why bother? It won't pass under a democratic parliament so why worry?
Jacques de Beaufort - December 19, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
Now that is just stupid (forgive me for the use of the word but I can't find another way to say it), you are given the chance of avoiding all this hassle, and you throw it away,, this is your chance to build the democratic ways you stand for, and maybe even prove Asuncioners that you do represent them.

So, Miss Douay, Mr Peterson, if either of you want the other dismissed from Parliament you should do as the Emperor said. Mr Peterson has already done that, so why don't you, Miss Douay, do the same, that way all this'll be over with happy faces everywhere, knowing that it was done legally.
Emperor Edgard II - December 19, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
Standing Orders ActI strongly urge the Imperial Parliament to please pass this act - for your own sake. This whole bickering and fighting is making the democratic institutions of this country look ridiculous.
Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
Excuse Me? Should you be posting here Sr Beaufort?
I'm all for working the Standing Orders Act but first we have to sort out the Speaker problem to ensure we have a fair Parliament to pass the Standing Orders Act through.
Claude Peterson - December 19, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
With all due respect this is a vote not a party time discussion. Vote yes or no to expel the member.
Emperor Edgard II - December 19, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
My apologies, Speaker Peterson. I'm just doing my job. ;)
UAI Advocate - December 19, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
I want to interject one small comment:
This whole argument thing is actually a blessing...some activity. At least a healthy argument (if people can remain civil and not personally attack each other) is a great way of fleshing out details. This argument has already brought out the need for official Procedures. ;)
Joshua Jackson - December 20, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
I beg pardon for this interuption, but the Emperor has spoken Mr. Speaker. You /do/ not speak down to him. He is our sovereign Lord you will shall respect that. We, as his subjects, obey his orders. If there is a person who is with treason perhaps you should look to the Speaker for daring to speak with such a tone against our Lord.
I'm sorry for this interuption, but I will not stand by for such behavior to the Emperor.
Jean Michel Leclerc - December 22, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
This argument is a disgrace.
Anyway I vote against any expulsions. Its a NON.

A good job too. It would have highlighted the immaturity of our nation if we were unable to hold a mature and restrained debate about the issues. I suggest in future before we start a raging argument in the parliament we engage in a calm discussion to air our grievances.
