Title: Support for the Emperor

Fabiola Douay - December 18, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
Ladies and Gentlemen, People of Asunción,

We all love our country. We love this glorious Empire and we love our Emperor. I have recently been labelled a communist and a republican. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. I support the House of Portela - however, the Emperor is currently allowing corruption and political farce to take place in our Parliament.

We have a Speaker who decides your laws, we have inactive members of parliament who only bother to vote after long periods of time and we have a lack of decent legislation.

It is time to end the farce. I come here today to voice my support for the Emperor - but the Emperor must support the people and the people want democracy. We haven't got that and it is my duty to bring it to Alexandria - whatever the cost may be.

AugustoBenavides - December 19, 2005 04:47 AM (GMT)
Mrs. Duoay,

The only farse here is your development as representative, and your so-called support to His Majesty.

I have requested your resignation, please proceed to your office here in Asunción or your party's forum and reply.

This is the will of the good people of Asunción.

Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Well you don't have my resignation. I refuse.

(You can't just claim "Oh the people dont like you anymore" - Grow Up people. It's called political opposition)

AugustoBenavides - December 19, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
Actaully I can, or we can, and it is called DEMOCRACY.

Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
Sr Benavides,

Democracy doesn't exist here. The system here is one of appointments and personal favours - it isn't about the people or their thoughts and feelings. The current law-making system is a mess and totally undemocratic. We have inactive, uncaring absentees as our Members of Parliament. Parliament isn't consulted on matters of war, Parliament isn't consulted on a great many things. Parliament is at the will of the Emperor - not the people. And at the head of it all is a Speaker who seems to think he has the ultimate power over the Imperial Parliament.

That isn't democracy. It's a farce. And in highlighting that fact, I have been made a demon by certain people - suprisingly, those guilty of making a mockery out the Parliament system.

AugustoBenavides - December 19, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
Srita. Douay,

You are not a demon, at least not to me, but you have been pushing legislations against the will of two our of three voters in your Province, that is not OK.

Jacques de Beaufort - December 19, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
I say, if you think that the system is undemocratic, Miss Douay, it is in your power to start making a change, and the change begins with your resignation, here in Asuncion, we have asked for your resignation through our beloved Archduke, who although appointed by the Emperor, has been able to keep in touch with the people of Asuncion more than you have. So, start your said path to democracy, and step down from office... It is good to have pride, but once it gets to your head (as it is clearly your case), it goes really really wrong. So do tthe Alexandrian a favour, do the Asuncioners a favour, do yourself a favour, and relinquish your Imperial Parliament powers in favour of the people of Asuncion, so that we can carry out a new election.

AugustoBenavides - December 19, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
This is democracy speaking madame.

I can offer you a good position at the provincial gov't, as I am aware of your capacity and intelligence, you are very active and take your job seriously, give us a hand to develop and establich a good, working provincial government.

Would be interested in becoming our Minister of Tourism?

Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
I have to make a difference to this unfair system. The only way I can do that is by being present in Parliament. I will not resign - but if you throw me out, I will merely bide my time. I'll come back and I'll return to Parliament and I'll make those changes then.

The Alexandrian Pride Party is here to stay and so am I. Give me a chance to change things rather than jumping on my every word based on loyalty to the Emperor.

Jacques de Beaufort - December 19, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
If you want to make a difference start by doing the people's will... they want you OUT, and you are not obliging.

I hereby move to start a public provincial referendum to remove Miss Douay from parliamentary office for the province of Asuncion, and that we elect a new representative

Fabiola Douay - December 19, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
So be it. I will sit in Parliament. Whether it be in Asunción or in a different province, I will sit in Parliament to finally wake this country up and drag it into democracy - and those who opposed freedom and democracy will see what they prevented the people from having for such a long time.

Jacques de Beaufort - December 20, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
Ahh... so that is all you want to be in government...you don't care about the people of Asunción one bit, do you?

Fabiola Douay - December 21, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
To make the changes needed, I have to be in Parliament. I care about all the provinces and would consider it an honour to represent any of them.

Jacques de Beaufort - December 21, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah right...you are just a power-hungry person...and we all know that (from past experience)...ouch! that hurt didn't it.

Fabiola Douay - December 21, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
I am close to telling you to get C:) but I won't lower myself.

Jacques de Beaufort - December 21, 2005 01:06 AM (GMT)
mmm....right...
