Description: for the Speaker of the Parliament
Russell duBois - November 3, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
Members of this Assembly,
I hereby move to begin nominations for the Speaker of the Imperial Parliament to conduct the business of the same body and to maintain order as according to the law and is as beneficial to the process of hearing, debating and enacting proposed laws.
[Requiring a second]
Claude Peterson - November 3, 2005 08:41 AM (GMT)
Jacques de Beaufort - November 3, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
Me too. Anyone have someone in mind to be Speaker.
Sincerey,
Russell duBois - November 5, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
All those in favour? [Just acting in the capacity of the President of the Assembly to get the process started]
Claude Peterson - November 5, 2005 07:38 AM (GMT)
As an independent member of parliament I am more then willing to be speaker.
Jacques de Beaufort - November 10, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
Well it has been four days since Mr Peterson offered to do the job himself, and as noone else has offered their services i move to make Mr. Peterson the Speaker of Parliament, that is if no other is interested in the position.
Sincerely,
Claude Peterson - November 11, 2005 08:42 AM (GMT)
Jacques de Beaufort - November 11, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
I agree with Mr Peterson being our Speaker, of course, I suggested it. But just one thing: to be the Speaker of our Imperial Parliament Mr Peterson, you are going to have to be very, and I mean VERY active. If you can manage logging in twice a day, then I see no problem with you having the possition.
So that is what i suggest, I don't mind who is the Speaker as long as he logs in twice a day.
Sincerely,
Russell duBois - November 14, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
Well, given that His Eminence's comments can be interpreted as a nomination, and then Mr. Peterson's response as an acceptance of this nomination and I'll just put in my second, we can begin a vote of confidence.
All those who favour Mr. Peterson being the Speaker of the Imperial Parliament say Oui, those opposed, non.
Jacques de Beaufort - November 14, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
Where are you all!!!!
We need activity in Parliament to be able to work efficiently.
Come on!!!
Jacques de Beaufort - November 15, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
I propose myself for the Possition of Speaker of the Imperial Parliament. If Mr. Peterson shows up and faces this challenge, then an election will be held in this body to determine who will be Speaker, if he does not show up by Friday 18, then i will ask the Prime Minister to confirm me in the said possition.
I am not doing this out of pure greed, this is because i want to see things in Parliament moving, and there has not been any activity besides mine in the past 4 or 5 days.
Sincerely,
Jacques de Beaufort - November 18, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
People.
Mr Peterson, I have seen you around in the last few days will you still be willing to have an election for Speaker (im the other candidate), or will you keep the low rate of activity. We need an active Speaker, and I have never decreased my levels of activity.
If Mr. Peterson doesn't reply to this message by Saturday noon, I will ask the Prime Minister to confirm me in the possition of Speaker of the Imperial Parliament.
Sincerely,
Jacques de Beaufort - November 19, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
People of Alexandria,
Time has passed, and noone has expressed his interest in running for the possition of Speaker of the Imperial Parliament against me, therefore, I ask that our Prime Minister confirms me in the said possition.
Sincerely,
Claude Peterson - November 20, 2005 08:41 AM (GMT)
I assumed I was the speaker do to the election. I am here, but I was not aware that one could appoint themself as speaker.
A vote was held, and I hold the position.
Jacques de Beaufort - November 20, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
The voting never took place, some just said that they would vote you if you presented yourself. I even thought of endorsing you for speaker once... but you are not as active as we need the speaker to be, so i am running against you for the speaker possition. If you agree we will hold a vote to see who will be the speaker.
Claude Peterson - November 20, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
I am active
OOC: I had city elections yesterday, so I was busy campaigning, I am back now...
Jacques de Beaufort - November 21, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Still the choosing of the Speaker was never carried out, so i would still like to be in the run for this possition.
Let's do this with democracy, we'll have a vote...
Russell duBois - November 21, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
Well given that I have no conflict of interest in this matter, I will assume the authority to conduct an election for the contest of the Office of the Speaker, provided that there is no major objection to such an assumption of authority?
Jacques de Beaufort - November 21, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
That would be appreciated.
Claude Peterson - November 22, 2005 07:19 AM (GMT)
I believe that the speaker should be free of political affiliation, if the members wants to run then it is his choice. But I will continue to run for the speaker as the only independent member of parliament.
Jacques de Beaufort - November 22, 2005 07:07 PM (GMT)
Ok, so if the speaker of parliament had no political affiliations, and there were a parliament were all ministers belonged to a political party, what then...
See... it makes no sense that proposition you just made..
Sincerely,
Claude Peterson - November 22, 2005 11:59 PM (GMT)
Mr. Beaufort,
I am saddened to learn that even though you didn't have a seconder you are running for speaker, and you attack me for my independence from political affiliation. I am not pleased one bit.
It makes sense for the speaker to be an independent, and in the event that no person is independent then it is logical that the government would choose a speaker from its ranks. Thats simple Mr. Beaufort.
Jacques de Beaufort - November 23, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
I never attacked anybody, and never will, iof you misinterpret what i say it is only so that you can defend yourself from an attack noone made. I never said anything about you being an independent, in fact i think it is quite respectable that independent people run for government possition.
And, no, it makes no sense that whole thing about the speaker being and independent member. No sense at all. but that is just my opinion.
Sincerely,
Matthieu Poiters - November 28, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
well then, lets take a vote citoyens
I for one vote for Mssr. Peterson.
PM.Poiters. Serving Alexandria.
Claude Peterson - November 28, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
I appreciate the vote Mr. Prime Minister,
I shall serve as the speaker in that case.
